Hi there, my name is Stephan. I’m a 36 year old musician (trombonist) and web designer/developer currently based in Halle (Saale), Germany.
On this website I present the side of me dedicated to web development. My aim is to provide the user a rich internet experience using modern techniques in web development with regard to functionality, and also accessibility to wide audiences.
A website should not primarily be about the looks but rather about the information it provides. Sure, it should look appealing to the visitor but great websites are the ones that present their information in an attracting manner, where the design is adapting to the content, not where the content has to be adapted according to the layout/design.
Many so-called web designers look at this from the wrong point of view: they envision a design at first and then they put some sample content which certainly looks great in whatever graphic editor they used. However, a website isn’t a static object like a Photoshop layout or paper print so in many cases it proves very hard to achieve exactly this layout in real life (many different web browsers), and in many cases the design looks nice but it drastically lacks functionality or editability.
I’ve had them all and I’ve learned from that experience. When creating a website I make sure that it will be “real life proof” in all major web browsers.
My web-designing services include:
- Intelligent concept and appealing design of websites
- Complete (X)HTML and CSS programming/implementation (conforming to W3C standards and accessibility guidelines) using tableless and semantic code
- Set-up/implementation of CMS/blog software (e. g. Wordpress)
- Basic search engine optimization
I’d be happy to hear from you.
